NCERT Class 7 Ganita Prakash II Book: Chapters and PDFs

The NCERT Class 7 Ganita Prakash II book is the second part of the Class 7 Mathematics textbook, running from Chapter 9, Geometric Twins, to Chapter 15, Finding the Unknown. It covers 198 printed pages across seven chapters.

The official PDF for every one of those chapters is in the download table below — each file published by NCERT itself on ncert.nic.in. The chapters before Chapter 9 are in the earlier part of the book, so they are not listed on this page.

What this page adds that the PDF alone cannot is a chapter-by-chapter map of the book. You get the named sections each chapter contains, the page each section starts on, and the count of questions and question parts each chapter carries — numbers taken from the book, so they match the file you download.

The study-order section below then tells you which chapters to take first, and which two need a compass and ruler rather than a rushed reading.

Class 7 Maths textbook PDF: the book, measured

The 7th class maths textbook pdf published by NCERT comes in two parts; this page covers the second part, Ganita Prakash II, Chapters 9 to 15. The numbers that matter for planning:

  • 7 chapters — Chapters 9 to 15 of Ganita Prakash II.
  • 198 printed pages — the book runs pp. 1–198.
  • 22 named sections — NCERT’s own numbered headings across the seven chapters.
  • 0 printed activities — every chapter moves from explanation straight into questions.
  • Official PDFs verified — all seven chapter files sit on ncert.nic.in.

What is inside the NCERT Class 7 Ganita Prakash II book

Ch. Chapter Sections Activities Figures Questions
9 Geometric Twins 3 — — 18
10 Operations with Integers 2 — — 23
11 Finding Common Ground 3 — — 18
12 Another Peek 4 — — 35
13 Connecting the Dots… 4 — — 29
14 Constructions and Tilings 2 — — 24
15 Finding the Unknown 4 — — 28

The directory table shows what is actually inside each chapter. A section is one of the book’s numbered headings — Geometric Twins, Decimal Multiplication, Data Detective — with the page it starts on. A question is a numbered question printed inside the chapter; this book works questions into the teaching rather than saving them all for the end.

A question part is a sub-question — (a), (b), (c) — inside one question. The parts count is the real predictor of study time: a five-part question takes five times as long as a one-part question.

The book prints no activities in these seven chapters, so that column is zero throughout. The diagrams in this edition are not numbered, so no figure index appears on this page.

Chapter 9: Geometric Twins (pp. 1-23)

Figures that have the same shape and the same size are congruent. When you check congruence, a figure can be rotated or flipped and still fit exactly over the other — the chapter’s whole idea is superposition, making one figure match another precisely.

  1. Geometric Twins (p. 1)
  2. Congruence of Triangles (p. 4)
  3. Angles of Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles (p. 17)

With 3 sections and 18 questions across 23 pages, this is the book’s opening chapter and its work is visual — comparing shapes and picking out equal angles and sides — so keep tracing paper and a geometry box handy.

Chapter 10: Operations with Integers (pp. 24-46)

The rule that carries the chapter: the product of two integers is positive when both signs are the same and negative when the signs differ. Everything else — the integer recap, then multiplication practice — builds on that one decision.

  1. A Quick Recap of Integers (p. 24)
  2. Multiplication of Integers (p. 29)

With 2 sections and 23 questions, but 46 question parts — about two parts per question — this chapter repays quick daily practice of sign rules rather than one long session.

Chapter 11: Finding Common Ground (pp. 47-66)

The chapter builds on last year’s common multiples, common factors and primes. It teaches a method for prime factorisation and uses it to find the greatest common factor (HCF) and the least common multiple (LCM).

  1. The Greatest of All (p. 47)
  2. Least, but not Last! (p. 55)
  3. Patterns, Properties, and a Pretty Procedure! (p. 58)

With 3 sections, 18 questions and 37 parts, this is a mid-weight chapter whose final section is where factor-based number sense is pulled together.

Chapter 12: Another Peek (pp. 67-96)

Decimal multiplication starts by multiplying the numbers as counting numbers, then placing the decimal point by counting decimal digits. Decimal division follows the same careful decimal-point logic, which is why the recap section comes first.

  1. A Quick Recap of Decimals (p. 67)
  2. Decimal Multiplication (p. 69)
  3. Decimal Division (p. 74)
  4. Look Before You Leap! (p. 88)

With 4 sections, 35 questions and 91 question parts, this is the heaviest exercise load in the book — so schedule extra time, and use “Look Before You Leap!” (p. 88) to check for decimal-point slips.

Chapter 13: Connecting the Dots… (pp. 97-135)

Dot plots give a quick view of variability — minimum, maximum, range, and how data clusters or spreads. The arithmetic mean is \( \frac{\text{sum of all the values}}{\text{number of values}} \), and the chapter ends by turning both tools into interpretation.

  1. Of Questions and Statements (p. 97)
  2. Representative Values (p. 98)
  3. Visualising Data (p. 114)
  4. Data Detective (p. 125)

This is the longest chapter at 39 pages, with 4 sections and 29 questions split into 58 parts; the closing “Data Detective” section (p. 125) is where the earlier methods become interpretation.

Chapter 14: Constructions and Tilings (pp. 136-163)

Bisection divides a line segment, or any geometrical quantity, into two identical parts. Every point at equal distance from the two endpoints of a segment lies on its perpendicular bisector — the two ideas the construction work is built on.

  1. Geometric Constructions (p. 136)
  2. Tiling (p. 155)

With 2 sections and 24 questions across 28 pages, the chapter is drawing work, so keep the compass and ruler out while doing it.

Chapter 15: Finding the Unknown (pp. 164-198)

The chapter opens with a ‘think of a number’ trick — subtract the original number, then add, and the result is predictable. The hint is to denote the first number by \( x \), which is exactly why equations are worth learning.

  1. Find the Unknowns (p. 164)
  2. Solving Equations Systematically (p. 168)
  3. Mind the Mistake, Mend the Mistake (p. 181)
  4. A Pinch of History (p. 182)

With 4 sections, 28 questions and 55 parts, it also carries the only dedicated common-mistakes section in the book — treat “Mind the Mistake, Mend the Mistake” (p. 181) as a built-in error checklist for equation solving.

Across the seven chapters, the shapes differ sharply. Chapter 13 is the longest at 39 pages, Chapter 12 is the most exercise-dense with 91 question parts, Chapters 9 and 14 are the drawing-heavy pair, and Chapters 10 and 12 carry the arithmetic load.

Use that shape when you plan: the two geometry chapters need a compass, a ruler and tracing paper, while the integer and decimal chapters absorb short, regular practice.

How to use the NCERT Class 7 Maths textbook PDF download

Download the file you need, then work in this order:

  1. Start with the arithmetic chapters — 10 (Integers), then 11 (HCF and LCM), then 12 (Decimals). They build the calculation habits every later chapter assumes.
  2. Do Chapter 13 (data and dot plots) next; it is long but lighter on computation, and the arithmetic mean (p. 98) uses the division practice from Chapter 12.
  3. Then Chapter 15 (equations) — the natural place to apply everything, with its own mistake-checking section.
  4. Leave the geometry pair, 9 (congruence) and 14 (constructions and tilings), for sessions with the geometry box out — they need tracing paper, a ruler and a compass, not a rushed reading.

When a question names a topic, use the table to jump straight to its chapter:

What you need Turn to Starts at
Integer sign rules for multiplication Chapter 10, Operations with Integers p. 24
HCF, LCM, prime factorisation Chapter 11, Finding Common Ground p. 47
Decimal multiplication or division Chapter 12, Another Peek p. 67
Averages, dot plots, data interpretation Chapter 13, Connecting the Dots… p. 97
Congruence and triangle angles Chapter 9, Geometric Twins p. 1
Constructions and tilings Chapter 14, Constructions and Tilings p. 136
Solving equations Chapter 15, Finding the Unknown p. 164

Before equation practice, read “Mind the Mistake, Mend the Mistake” (p. 181) once. It is the book’s own checklist of the slips students make, and it saves more time than any other single page in Chapter 15.
