The NCERT books class 11 accountancy are two separate textbooks — Financial Accounting-I and Accountancy-II — and both are linked below with their official NCERT PDFs.
Class 11 Accountancy is unusual because NCERT prints the subject as two books, and a chapter number alone does not tell you which one to open. The second book restarts its numbering at Chapter 1 — Financial Statements – I begins at page 277, while the first book’s Chapter 1, Introduction to Accounting, begins at page 1.
Every chapter of both books is one click away from the table below, and the complete Class 11 collection sits on the Class 11 books hub.
The two Class 11 accountancy books compared
| Book | Chapters | Printed pages | Book page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accountancy II | 2 | 112 | Accountancy II (coming soon) |
| Financial Accounting I | 7 | 276 | Financial Accounting I (coming soon) |
The index holds 9 chapters across 388 printed pages, 108 named syllabus sections and 8 verified numbered figures indexed from the textbook — stated exactly as measured.
These totals are counts of the sections we could index, not the books’ full contents. In 2 chapters the printed section labels are mixed, so treat the numbers as a measure of what is here rather than a claim of completeness.
Which Class 11 accountancy book does your chapter belong to?
Three quick checks tell you which book your chapter is in.
- By chapter number: chapters 1-7 are Financial Accounting-I (pages 1-276), from Introduction to Accounting through Depreciation, Provisions and Reserves. A teacher’s “Chapter 8” or “Chapter 9” means Accountancy-II: the second book renumbers the Financial Statements chapters as its own Chapter 1 (Financial Statements – I, page 277) and Chapter 2 (Financial Statements – II, page 318).
- By printed chapter name: both books restart at Chapter 1, so the number alone never identifies the book. “Chapter 1: Financial Statements – I” means the second book, not Introduction to Accounting, which is the first book’s Chapter 1 at page 1. Read the chapter name as well as the number.
By topic. The journal, ledger, cash book, bank reconciliation statement, trial balance and rectification of errors, and depreciation, provisions and reserves are all in Financial Accounting-I. The trading and profit & loss account, balance sheet, closing entries, and adjustments such as closing stock and prepaid expenses are in Accountancy-II.
By what the teacher called it. “Accountancy Part 1” or “Financial Accounting-I” is the first book; “Accountancy Part 2” or “Accountancy-II” is the second. Teachers often say Part 1 and Part 2 even though the printed titles differ.
Check the difference yourself before choosing: open the official NCERT PDF of Financial Accounting-I’s Chapter 1, Introduction to Accounting, on ncert.nic.in — it starts at page 1. Then open the official NCERT PDF of Accountancy-II’s Chapter 1, Financial Statements – I, also on ncert.nic.in, and you will find it beginning at page 277.
What each of the two books teaches
Financial Accounting-I (pages 1-276) builds the recording cycle from the ground up: the meaning of accounting and its basic terms, the theory base and accounting concepts, then the journal, ledger, cash book, bank reconciliation statement, trial balance and rectification of errors, and finally depreciation, provisions and reserves.
It is the book for students meeting the accounting cycle for the first time — everything from the first transaction to the trial balance.
Accountancy-II (pages 277-388) is the end-of-period book. It covers capital and revenue, closing entries, gross profit and net profit, the balance sheet, and the adjustment entries for closing stock, outstanding and prepaid expenses, accrued income and income received in advance.
Use it once recording is finished and you need the final statements — the trading and profit & loss account and the balance sheet.

Where the figures come from. The counts on this page come from the NCERT Class 11 Accountancy textbook editions we index: Financial Accounting-I (chapters 1-7, pages 1-276) and Accountancy-II (chapters 1-2, the Financial Statements chapters, pages 277-388).
The chapter-by-chapter guide below follows the order of the printed books. Each entry names the chapter, the section headings it contains, and the page where the chapter begins, with the textbook’s numbered figures noted alongside. The ten in-text questions listed here belong to Accountancy-II, specifically to Chapter 2, Financial Statements – II, where they appear in nineteen parts.
The seven chapters of Financial Accounting-I are presented with their sections and figures, so you can navigate the NCERT PDFs themselves for the rest of each chapter’s content.
Two chapters carry mixed printed section labels, so the counts describe what we could index, not the books’ full contents.

Who settles what. NCERT settles textbooks, editions and official PDFs; CBSE settles curriculum, syllabus and examinations. To confirm a textbook edition, check NCERT’s website rather than a CBSE notice, and remember textbook contents and the examinable syllabus are not always identical.
