Chapter 2: Arithmetic Expressions (40 pages)
Chapter 2 teaches order of operations through open number puzzles rather than drills. One standing task: use 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 exactly once each to build as many values between \( -10 \) and \( +10 \) as you can. Another: make an expression equal to 100 using the digits 0 to 9 exactly once.

Worked example (ours, not from the book): \( 5 + 2 \times 8 – 4 = 5 + 16 – 4 = 17 \), because multiplication runs before addition and subtraction. The classic mistake is to work left to right, so \( 4 + 3 \times 2 \) becomes \( (4 + 3) \times 2 = 14 \) instead of \( 4 + 6 = 10 \).
Just 2 sections, but 27 questions carrying 102 question parts — the highest part count in the book, and one of the densest chapters per section.
Chapter 3: A Peek Beyond the Point (pp. 46–100)
Chapter 3 is the decimals chapter. It begins with the need to split a unit into smaller parts for more exact measurement, then extends the Indian place-value system: one unit equals ten one-tenths, one tenth equals ten one-hundredths, and the pattern continues into the decimal places.

Chapter 5: Parallel and Intersecting Lines (34 pages)
Chapter 5 fixes the geometry of intersecting and parallel lines. When two lines cross they form four angles: vertically opposite angles are equal, and the two angles of a linear pair add up to \( 180^\circ \). Perpendicular lines meet at \( 90^\circ \), and a transversal cutting parallel lines creates corresponding and alternate angles.

Chapter 7: A Tale of Three Intersecting Lines (pp. 146–179)
Chapter 7 makes the case for the compass. When the side lengths of a triangle are given, a compass and ruler make construction routine — and three lengths form a triangle only when each is smaller than the sum of the other two.
