Class 12 Business Studies Book Business Studies II: Chapters, PDFs and What’s Inside

The Class 12 Business Studies Book Business Studies II is Part II of NCERT’s Class 12 Business Studies textbook — three chapters across 90 printed pages, and the official NCERT PDFs for all three are on this page.

Beyond handing over the files, this page tells you what is actually inside the book: how long each chapter runs (27, 47 and 16 pages), the topics each one covers, and which chapter to open when you need the three financial decisions, the marketing philosophies, or the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

The chapters in this volume are 9–11 only; Chapters 1–8 of the Class 12 Business Studies textbook live in a separate Part I book.

Ch. Chapter Pages Official PDF
9 Financial Management 27 PDF
10 Understanding Market 47 PDF
11 Consumer Protection 16 PDF

The files above are NCERT’s own official PDFs, hosted directly on ncert.nic.in — the same chapter files your school and the board use, so you are studying from the current NCERT edition rather than a third-party copy.

NCERT publishes this part as one PDF per chapter, named lebs201 for Chapter 9, lebs202 for Chapter 10 and lebs203 for Chapter 11 in its textbook download area.

The Class 12 Business Studies textbook PDF at a glance

Before you open any file, here is the shape of the part.

  • 3 chapters — Chapter 9 Financial Management, Chapter 10 Understanding Market, Chapter 11 Consumer Protection.
  • 90 printed pages across the three chapter PDFs, very unevenly distributed between them.
  • 3 official NCERT PDFs, one per chapter: lebs201, lebs202, lebs203.
  • Part II only — Chapters 1–8 are published separately as Business Studies Part I, a different book.

The comparison below shows where the reading time goes.

Chapter Pages Core content Nature of the work
Ch 9 Financial Management 27 pp Business finance, the three financial decisions, financial planning Decision-based concepts
Ch 10 Understanding Market 47 pp Marketing management, the five philosophies, functions of marketing Long conceptual read
Ch 11 Consumer Protection 16 pp Consumer Protection Act 2019, rights, responsibilities, ways and means Compact statute-based

The uneven split tells you where most of the reading time sits: Chapter 10 alone takes more than half of the 90 pages. The chapters listed above are the NCERT Business Studies II chapters this page covers — not the full Class 12 syllabus, which CBSE defines separately.

What is inside each chapter of Business Studies II

The directory below lays out the book’s own structure, chapter by chapter; the breakdowns that follow explain what each part teaches.

Ch. Chapter Sections Activities Figures Questions
9 Financial Management — — — —
10 Understanding Market — — — —
11 Consumer Protection — — — —

Reading the columns: a section is one of NCERT’s numbered headings, an activity is a printed activity, and a question is an end-of-chapter exercise. In this part the section and question columns sit at zero because the chapters run on unnumbered topic headings — the topic lists below carry the real structure.

All three chapters are concept chapters rather than numerical ones: the work is definitions, comparisons and application — contrasting marketing with selling is the kind of task this book trains.

Chapter 9: Financial Management (pp. 215–241)

The core idea, stated in the chapter’s printed summary, is that business finance is the money required to carry out business activities. Almost every business activity needs finance — money is needed both to establish a business and to run it.

That is why the book treats raising and using funds as one continuous set of decisions. If you want the logic behind what a company invests in, how it pays for that investment and how much it returns to shareholders, the framework sits here.

  1. Learning Objectives
  2. Meaning Of Business Finance
  3. Financial Decisions
  4. Investment Decision
  5. Factors affecting Capital Budgeting Decision
  6. Financing Decision
  7. Factors Affecting Financing Decisions
  8. Dividend Decision
  9. Factors Affecting Dividend Decision
  10. Financial Planning

At 27 pages it opens the part, and its spine is the trio of decisions — investment, financing and dividend — that the later factor lists feed.

Chapter 10: Understanding Market (pp. 242–288)

The chapter opens with the distinction that drives everything after it: in the traditional sense, market is the place where buyers and sellers gather to transact in goods and services; in the modern marketing sense, it is a set of activities rather than a place. This traditional-versus-modern contrast is the point students most often confuse in this chapter.

The chapter then builds from that contrast through the five marketing management philosophies — production, product, selling, marketing and societal — and finishes with the functions of marketing.

  1. Marketing Management
  2. Marketing Versus Selling
  3. Marketing Management Philosophies
  4. The Production Concept
  5. The Product Concept
  6. The Selling Concept
  7. The Marketing Concept
  8. Differences in the Marketing Management Philosophies
  9. The Societal Marketing Concept
  10. Functions Of Marketing

With 47 of the part’s 90 pages, it is the longest chapter in this book and the one needing the most endurance — the sequence of five philosophies is the dense middle.

Chapter 11: Consumer Protection (pp. 289–304)

The chapter’s stated ground is the importance of consumer protection: from the consumer’s point of view, protection matters because consumers are often ignorant, unorganised and open to exploitation by sellers, and the chapter adds that protection matters to business as well.

From there it moves to the framework the law provides: the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the consumer rights it lists, and the consumer responsibilities that balance them. This is the chapter to turn to for the statutory side of the subject.

  1. Learning Objectives
  2. Importance Of Consumer Protection
  3. Need for Consumer Protection
  4. From Consumers’ point of view
  5. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019
  6. Consumer Rights
  7. Terms & Definitions
  8. Consumer Responsibilities
  9. Ways And Means Of Consumer Protection
  10. Self-regulation by Business

At 16 pages it is the shortest chapter in the part, and its compact core — the Act, the rights, the responsibilities — is the most efficient chapter to revise close to the exam.

How to use the Class 12 BST book PDF

The three chapter PDFs let you work in any order; here is a practical order for this particular book.

  1. Pick the chapter file you need. The PDFs are one file per chapter — lebs201, lebs202, lebs203 — so you can pull Chapter 11 alone for a quick revision pass without opening the whole book.
  2. Read Chapter 9 first if you are following the book. Keep the three financial decisions — investment, financing and dividend — as the skeleton, because every factor list in the chapter feeds one of them.
  3. Give Chapter 10 two sittings. At 47 pages it is longer than the other two chapters put together, and the five marketing management philosophies are the dense stretch to pace yourself through.
  4. Revise Chapter 11 last. It is short and list-based, which suits a final pass better than a long first read.

One caution: textbook contents and the examinable syllabus are not always identical — check the current official CBSE syllabus alongside this book before you decide what to leave out.

Beyond the Class 12 Business Studies textbook

Business Studies Part I is the natural companion to this volume: it holds Chapters 1–8 of the Class 12 Business Studies textbook and is a separate NCERT book of its own.

Other Class 12 subjects are listed on the Class 12 page of this directory, and the NCERT books directory lists the classes covered on this site. If your stream includes Accountancy, that is a separate Class 12 NCERT textbook in its own right.
