How to study this book in order
The four chapters are not equally independent. A workable order is:
- Chapter 8 first — it fixes the three childhood age bands (infancy, preschool, school age) that the later chapters assume.
- Chapter 9 next — its clothing guidance is organised by those same stages (section 9.4, p. 178) and adds special-needs clothing (p. 185).
- Chapter 11 after Chapter 9 — once you have chosen clothes you care for them; mending, laundry and storage (pp. 204-216) build directly on the clothing choices of Chapter 9.
- Chapter 10 any time — family income, budget, savings, investment and credit (pp. 189-198) form a self-contained block that does not depend on the other chapters.
One caution applies to every chapter: textbook contents and the examinable syllabus are not always identical — check the current official CBSE syllabus. A parent or teacher checking what a chapter actually contains will find the answer faster in the directory above than by opening the PDF.
